Veronica's Paris Picks

posted as: destination details, activities and fashionable traveler
October 02, 2008
This evening our well-traveled and always-impeccably-dressed friend Veronica is jaunting off to one of her favorite places in the world, Paris. Because of her familiarity with the city, we always take her recommendations to heart - and we've never been disappointed by any of them.

In between packing and work, Veronica found the time to shoot us a message with a list of her favorite restaurants, destinations and shops, many of which she'll be visiting in a matter of hours. We're envious but also grateful that we can share her recommendations with you - find them all below!

We're wishing Veronica a bon voyage and hoping that she discovers new and exciting items to add to her already-admirable Paris index. And if you have any tips for Veronica's trip, please leave them below. She'll be checking in from the other side of the Atlantic!

xo,

your friendly jauntsetter team

Food:

  • L'As du Falafel - "The best falafel in the world! In the Marais."
  • Restaurant 404 - "Moroccan place, also located in the Marais. The bar next door 'Andy Wahloo' is cool too."
  • Le Bambou - "No-frills, delicious Vietnamese in Chinatown."
  • Les Deux Magots or Cafe de Flore - "Classic French cafes, sure to evoke your inner Sartre or de Beauvoir."
  • Chez Janou - "Provencal and people-watching in the Marais."

Activities:

  • Le Musee de La Poupee - "Super creepy, but cool, doll museum near the Pompidou in the Marais."
  • Les Bateaux Mouches - "One of the touristy boat rides on the Seine, but really a fun, scenic and romantic ride."
  • Palais de Tokyo - "Beautiful building and space housing a contemporary art museum with wonderful exhibitions."
  • Picasso Museum - "My favorite museum in Paris: beautiful collection, manageable size."
  • Ile-St-Louis - "Wander around this adorable island with no agenda. "
  • The Galleries Lafayette - "Shop in the amazing gourmet food market in the basement level. They have beautiful baked goods and macarons."

Did Someone Say Shopping?

Veronica says "I live to shop in Paris" and highly recommends Galleries Lafayette or Printemps. "Both are solid department stores near Opera."

She also provided a list of her favorite boutiques:
