Our friend and profiled jauntsetter Diana recently moved to Austin, and she already has a ton of favorites there of the dining, shopping, drinking, and dancin' sort.
We shared some of them with you in last week's trip pick of the week - and gave the really cool Alamo Drafthouse Cinema its own special mention in blog form - but there's plenty more where those came from.
Scroll down for the rest of Diana's Austin recommendations and let us know if you have any more!

Eatin'
- East Side Cafe - on Manor Road; organic, gourmet in a neat old house; they have their own garden where they grow a lot of their produce.
- Gueros - a fun place for happy hour and right by a bunch of cool shops on South Congress.
- Ruby's BBQ - on 29th street, near campus; all natural BBQ and it's freaking awesome. Also around the corner is a collegy coffee house called Spider House - fun to sit outside and "feel old."
- The Salt Lick - it's out of town towards the Hill Country. BYOB and great BBQ.
- There are a bunch of newish (opened in the last few years) pizza places: Home Slice (S. Congress), East Side Pies (Rosewood, East Austin), and Cipolina (West Lynn, Clarksville).
Drinkin'
- Deep Eddy Cabaret - on Lake Austin Blvd.; good dive bar near Deep Eddy Pool (see "other" below).
- Club de Ville - on Red River and nearby; it's cool - all the outta towners go there or meet up with old friends for drinks there; nice big patio.
- Beauty Bar - on 7th St. Hipster central.
Shoppin'
- Whole Foods - They're headquartered in Austin so this is a mega-store. Its proximity to downtown is great and there's a decent cafe to grab a quick bite.
- Wheatsville Coop - on Guadalupe and 32nd; super hippy food coop. They also have a small but nice Euro kitchenware section.
- By George - on Lamar and 6th (near Whole Foods); L.A. and New York style fancy boutique.
Dancin'
- Continental Club - on South Congress; depends who is playing but on Monday nights a Parisian swing band plays and it's worth it to go see the people swinging - they're amazing. Other nights, lots of rockabilly swing.
- Emos, Red Eye Fly & Stubbs - all three venues on Red River (close to 6th); usually have the good indie bands play.
Other
- Deep Eddy Pool - Lake Austin Blvd., west of Mopac. It's a natural pool; I think they show movies at night in the summer time.
- Hike and bike trail - Loop around town lake in the middle of town; where all the fit hotties run, walk or bike; you can do a 3, 4 or 10 mile loop; best to park underneath the Mopac bridge, near Austin High - that's where Runtex has a water station
- The Blanton Museum - UT's art museum. Recently rennovated... supposed to be impressive with a great collection (I haven't been yet). Once a month they have a party (called Third Thursday with extended hours, drinks and art.
