This just in! The Atlantic City Express Service (that's ACES) has announced that there will be a weekend train running to Atlantic City direct from our very own Penn Station starting on February 6th, 2009.

ACES is a joint venture of Ceasar's Atlantic City, Harrah's Resort Atlantic City, and the Borgata Hotel and Casino. A free shuttle bus will pick up riders after their roughly 2.5 hour ride at the Atlantic City train station and drop guests off at the participating partner hotels.

Each multitiered train will have leather seating, a private lounge, food and beverage "kiosks" (think: alcoholic vending machines), and first and coach classes. First class will be located on the upper level of the train and have waiter service. Tickets are $50 one way for coach and $75 for first class.

While we're not huge AC fans, this new train, plus the The Chelsea, could change all that - we've ridden down there for various parties on a Greyhound Bus before ($25 one way), usually in a seat crowded by a smelly bathroom on one side and drunken hobos (or friends; also, not mutually exclusive) on the other. And after each ride, we've always sworn never-again.

But with the right group of people and some first-class tickets, plus a little Lady Luck, we can imagine AC calling our name again. Can you?

[Photo Credit: Photos Courtesy of the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Bureau.]
